JumpOffPlus.com Summer Recap: 2013 Stock Risers

August 22, 2011

Here is a look back on the 2013 players who put themselves in a position of strength recruiting wise coming out of the month of July. Look for these three players to be headliners for their high school teams this winter:

Teana Muldrow, 6'2", Forward
East Orange, N.J./Montclair

Muldrow’s signature performance at the “Real Deal in the ‘Ville” solidified her as one of the top forwards in the 2013 class. The athletic combo forward blistered the net from the arc in Nashville and in again in Augusta at our Elite 32 Summer Jam II. Muldrow has the athleticism and the frame to play the 4 position, but can also dominate the game from the perimeter.  She can make plays off the bounce in the lane in addition to hitting the jumper which makes it easy to understand why the East Orange native jumped onto so many colleges’ recruiting radar.

Tifany Suarez, 5'10", Guard
Miami, Fla./Lady of Lourdes

Arguably, the player who was the most steady in her performance on the back half of July was Suarez. After fighting Osgood Schlatters (knee condition) last summer, she rebounded this July with solid outings in multiple tournaments (Summer Invitational & Elite 32 Summer Jam I) while playing for Blue Star Florida DEBO. She is a combo guard in the truest sense of the term, because she is a good enough handler to play point but is also a threat to score buckets off the one bounce pull-up. Suarez is a dynamic player and her stock will only increase if she continues to play as she did this summer.

Peyton Whitted, 6-2, Forward
Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett

There might not be a more intriguing prospect in the 2013 class than Peyton Whitted. Nearly everyone in the grassroots girls’ basketball community see what could be with this 6-2 trail 4 player. What does everyone see: an inside-out left-handed forward who makes shots at the arc and in the paint. The question on Whitted has been whether she is willing to mix it up in the paint or simply hover around the arc and wait for the next open three point shot. Whitted answered those questions by putting together a summer filled with aggressive play on both ends of the floor. She also showed that is very effective at hitting the mid-range jumper. Whitted might have found her niche and found herself rising as one of the top forwards in her class.
